Finding the real cause of a leak
Water often shows itself far from where it gets in. A stain on a bedroom ceiling can come from a cracked tile, a worn flashing or a blocked gutter some distance away. We work out where the water is actually getting in before we start, so the repair solves the problem instead of hiding it.
One customer who had us repair a leaking roof told us the team quickly identified the issue, kept in touch throughout and left the area clean and tidy.
Tiles, slate and lead flashing
We replace broken, slipped and missing tiles and slates, and renew lead flashing where the roof meets a chimney, wall or valley. Flashings are one of the most common places for leaks, because lead and the sealing around it take a lot of weather over the years.
If you can see tiles on the ground after a storm, or a tile hanging out of line, it is worth getting it looked at before the next heavy rain.
Chimney repairs
Chimneys sit in the most exposed position on the roof. We repoint crumbling mortar, repair and replace flashings, and carry out chimney rebuilds where the brickwork is beyond repointing. A re-pointed chimney with new flashing can stop a leak that was causing damp in a chimney breast.
Ask us for a look at your chimney if you have damp patches around the chimney breast, loose or crumbling mortar, or visible gaps at the base of the stack.
