Damp proofing in Brighton and along the south coast
Damp is often linked to the roof. Leaks, failed flashing and blocked gutters let water into walls. Our team of 10+ deals with the cause and the damage, and we have been doing it since 2010.
Damp surveys
We inspect the property, take moisture readings and find out which type of damp you have and where it comes from. That way you only pay for treatment that actually deals with the cause.
Rising damp and DPC injection
Rising damp is ground moisture moving up through walls, leaving tide marks, salts and crumbling plaster low on the wall. Where a damp-proof course has failed or was never fitted, we install a new chemical DPC by injection.
Penetrating damp
Water getting in from outside through leaking roofs, cracked render, failed pointing, blocked gutters or poor flashing. Because we are roofers, we can fix the leak at its source as well as the damp patch inside.
Condensation
Black mould, streaming windows and musty rooms are often caused by condensation, not a building defect. We advise on ventilation and the right fixes, so you do not pay for treatment you do not need.
Tanking and membranes
For basements, cellars and walls below ground level, we apply tanking systems and fit cavity drainage membranes to keep water out of the living space.
Re-plastering after treatment
Once the damp is treated, we strip out salt-damaged plaster and re-plaster with suitable materials, leaving walls ready to decorate.

Spray foam sprayed onto the underside of a roof can cause problems. Many mortgage lenders and surveyors are wary of it, which can make a home harder to sell or remortgage. It can also trap condensation against the roof timbers, leading to rot, and it hides the timbers and tiles, so the roof can't be properly inspected.
Careful removal
We strip the foam from rafters, battens and the underside of the roof covering, taking care not to damage the roof structure.
Roof timber inspection
Once the foam is off, we inspect the timbers and roof covering and tell you honestly about any rot or damage we find, and what needs repairing.
Re-insulate and tidy up
We re-insulate the loft with breathable insulation, clear away the removed foam and dispose of it properly, leaving the loft clean.
